I wonder if Rose and Elliott were bought in last season with that in mind, only to 'fail' the audition, so to speak?
So Lambert, with us a division higher, is going to look to a higher level with players in mind-not so easy.

The thing with getting a back up targetman is that, with Holt pretty much as certain a starter as anyone, who is going to want to come here and be content to be his back-up? Anyone decent won't want to know; anyone happy to do so-well, you can question their motives and ability?

I hope there is a chance of signing Barnett permanently in January. And wonder if Francombe won't, ultimately, be the natural cover for Martin who is, like Holt, pretty much a clear cut starter.

OTJ, Gill and Askou-any long term future for either of them either? Get their wages off the books and it would certainly free space up for someone. Lamentably, the days of going out and buying a Mark Bowen for £80'000 are long gone! Hopefully Holty is getting fit again, but, the thought of him doing his ankle or knee, long term, is scary.
