Two points:
At least the man has the balls after such an inept display to face the media and admit to his blunders and offer an apology.
I dont think the 'laughter' should be over-analysed. It is almost self-depreciating as if he is laughing at how bad he was.
Personally, I say play him Tuesday and tell him he will have a run in the team to give him some confidence back. I know it isnt quite the same, but look at Gomes as Spurs. Was rubbish for a bit but now a bit of a club legend due to how much he has got better.
At the end of the day, if he is just s**t, bring in Alnwick or one of the heralded youngsters (Rudd/Steer)
