OK: Here's my own positive spin

This is my guess, anyway.

Obviously preseason friendlies mean little, but on the whole it's more encouraging to have won nearly all of them than to have struggled.

In the last of these, we beat a Prem club, coming twice from behind.

The mood in the camp would've been upbeat, and an air of relaxed anticipation may've been detectable (ible?) on the shoulders of the Staff.

Add the knowledge that last season's shambles was good enough to duff Col U really quite seriously, and you have an unhealthy Underestimation Cocktail, on which we grew too pissed to play a game of football.

Now, shaken from that hangover by a neat shot of reality, the players and staff will awaken and the rest of the season won't be too bad.

Doesn't work, does it? Even as I was typing it I could see Semi's backpass in my mind, and Theo's girlie flap at it. Nothing can spin either of those visions away. What was Semi THINKING ffs?

Ah well. I tried.
