I watched this over and over when I was kid. To this day I could probably recite a lot of Michael Caine's narration and the commentary. It's just simply perfect. as that blog link says:

The main reason, however, why ?Hero? remains as exciting today as it was upon its release is that football set to synth music will always look cool and ?Hero? does the ?football to music? thing better than any other film.
