I really thought that the rebuild was critical, and have always accepted that it wasn't about an instant turnaround - improvement this season, growth next season. However whilst we see evidence of serious strengthening with Clingan, we also know that some of the rebuild is actually temporary housing in the form of loan players. This is only partly driven, it seems, by the finances - Roeder has chosen to spend the money on these temps in the belief that they are better options than other available players. But whatever it is, it doesn't really move the rebuild along. And there will be even less money next summer so what will the squad be then? If we have to sell to buy, then that certainly doesn't count as rebuilding.
Not all of this is down to Roeder, but some is. And I still persist in the view that a rebuild would have been better if some of the original structure had remained. (And right now Drury is at the forefront of my mind more than Hucks).
