(roughly) "how much it cheers up even depressed fans to see a good youngster/s coming through", in referring to Carroll's performance for Newcastle yesterday. I am recalling the initial impact Martin made on our spirits before falling away. Do we have "high hopes" youngsters about to break through or has Roeder completely demoralised them?
