i think if he'd turned out to be a sucess then we'd agreed to buy him, but he was here in the first instance on a 'try before you buy' type deal (though we were told that he was a permanent signing and the 'loan' thing did only come to light when we 'released' him - obviously this is slightly complicated by the technicalities of cross-border loans, in that they are permanent transfers as far as the international footballing associations are concerned)
