Remember that Doc would not even have been playing lately

if Stefanovic and Kennedy hadn't got injured. Roeder made it clear when Hucks left that he wanted to build his own team and that Hucks was associated with the (failing) past.

That comment also applies to Drury, Doc, Russell up to a point, Lappin and Cureton. Croft is the only one who has come out of it well and really earned Roeder's respect. But that's because I think Crofty just loves to play and is programmed to give 100% whoever's in charge.

I think GR should have been proagmatic and kept the best of the old guard on side while gradually integrating his new team. He's tried to do it all too quickly imo.

I don't really buy the "it's all GR's fault" but I also don't buy pants' or reg's "it's all the Board's fault" either. The truth is that the Board f**ked up massively the season we went down, then hung on too long in getting rid of Worthy, then made a big mistake appointing Grant. There is also the spectre of financial mismanaqement.

But I also don't think Roeder's managerial record is so poor by accident, and his treatment of some players, strange team selections, hatred of the media and open contempt for fans all add up to a problem.

My assessment would be that blame can apportioned all over the place. But while the ideal solution would be to get a rich new owner, about 20 other clubs in better positions than us for an investor could say the same. Look at West Ham.

Short term, the only way to "change things" would be to sack the manager. I'm not saying it would guarantee survival but neither would it guarantee relegation. And how many owners of private companies decide to sack themselves, or give away their business, if things aren't going well? They always sack someone else....
