there's a tendency amongst football fans to exaggerate their team's ineptitude when things are going badly, but I'm coming up for 40 years now and I simply can't think of a time when we had a squad so lacking in physicality, or talent, or attitude. When I first went we were 4 off the bottom of this league - yet we had Dunc, and Dave, and Kevin Keelan and Graham Paddon. What players do we have now that we will be talking about in 40 years? Darren Huckerby - and he's well past his best.
There is no easy fix to this. Anither relegation next year is not impossible unless we find the money to ship out the whole squad and replace them. And we already know that more than £5 million is going on debt repayments in the next 12 months.
