MPs aren't the biggest factor. Lens quality and optical zoom much more. I have a

little Sony Cybershot with 7.5 MP and while great as a snappy little camera, my other one, the Sony DSC F707, with only 5MP but a lovely old Carl Zeiss optical zoom lens is far far better.
