I do tire of managers et al going on about pace and attacking ability in defenders, especially full backs, first and foremost, they are there to defend, that is the prime directive and no part of the team game should suffer from them abandoning that.

And yes, if you are going to have a midfield destroyer-cum-ball winner in the middle, you have to have someone creative alongside them-one of the formers role is to "protect" him-Brellier and Russell will work well in some games, but, more often than not, it will show limitations.
