there was an interview on Five Licve with one of the guys who does the compiling and he said they work 18 months ahead and clubs request dates to be at home or away , who they want at christmas etc , the list is compiled and then given to clubs and police who then highlight any changes they want and , while it does not always happen , changes are made - so not entirely random
