One of the things about all these supposed rich benefactors that most don't realise

is that none of them - not even Abramovich - are doing this out of the kindness of their hearts. All the money they are investing is in the form of loans (usually from some opaque offshore trust). One day they are going to want a return on that investment - and that's when it will get interesting...

Seems to be that the mysterious Evans (who tried to buy the Mirror Group, I think) has just brought the debts and most of the equity - otherwise they're still in exactly the same position.
