Mate, that's totally fair enough. There's still a tiny part of me which thinks it could be Jewell: especially given what John Benson said this morning. I really can't see it though: not with Leicester, Boro and maybe Derby before too long waiting in the wings (incidentally, if he went to Leicester, then who do we blame? Phil Gartside: if he hadn't appointed Megson, there wouldn't be a vacancy there!)

But I acknowledge I have gone out on a limb without knowing anything for sure - which plainly isn't the smartest thing to do. It's just a feeling, based on all I've read, heard and been told over the past couple of weeks: Mad Dog fits, somehow. Would be absolutely ecstatic if I'm wrong, though! Incidentally, I've just got off the phone to a West Ham-supporting mate of mine: he's really knowledgeable, and he actually thinks, given our current predicament, Allen - who he really rates - might be a better bet than Jewell! Interesting idea, and he could be right actually.

We can only wait and see. Meanwhile, Old Gregg: do you HAVE to be so sodding b***hy all the time? It's an opinion, that's all: one that could well come back and bite me on the arse too. But it isn't a crime to say I'm confident it'll turn out to be Allen - even though I don't and can't know for sure.
