Suffered that very charge myself
Mrs NC had her car stolen from the driveway. It was recovered same day (Tracker - excellent - highly recommended) and by the time we'd arrived to collect the car from where it had been found, the police already had a recovery truck there. No mention of the costs was given at the time and they simply said "we'd like to take the car away for forensics and you can collect it in a couple of days".
OK, we thought, no problem. Catch the bastards. Go to collect the car and we're presented with a bill for £124!!!! Took it up with the police - NOT INTERESTED!!! WTF?
Why the hell should we support the authorities if they then proceed to shaft us with things like that? I queried with them about getting the RAC to recover the car as we have membership and they told me that they have arrangements with local firms and we have to use them and PAY!
This was 2 years ago and it still pisses me off to this day - and that was up here so it would appear that this practice is national, not just restricted to Norfolk.
The moral is - don't support the police...........pretty poor f**king moral eh?

BTW, rumour has it that Dion's off (no surprise there) and the Crewe RB will sign. Thanks for the memories Dion (and the poppy shirt).
