something along these lines perhaps?...

Official Statement from Johannes Hoff Thorup, Former Head Coach, Norwich City F.C.

“In the grey East Anglian fog, under skies too heavy for spring, the call came like a distant gull over frozen water. We had known this silence was circling. You don’t need a lighthouse to see the end when you’ve already walked into the rocks.”

Leaving Norwich City was not a decision. It was a weather pattern. Slow, inevitable, and soaked in English drizzle. The type that creeps into your coat collar and refuses to leave. Myself and Glenn, dear friend, quiet tactician, purveyor of strong black coffee and stoic optimism, have been shown the door—but not before leaving fingerprints on the frame.

We arrived with light and angles, diagrams and belief. We leave with suitcases half-zipped and hearts fuller than form tables can measure. The results were not always kind. The pitch often a mirror for our own failings—patchy, exposed, lacking conviction in both thirds. But there were flashes. Glimmers. Yellow flares in the dark.

We tried to make something beautiful. Maybe too beautiful for a league that eats beauty and spits out grit. But no regrets. Only lessons.

And to the fans—the faithful, the furious, the ones who sing even when it’s 0-3 and your winger’s pulling up with cramp in the 61st minute—you were the only constant in a season that twisted like driftwood in a black tide. You deserved better. You deserved belief backed by points. We offered belief. Points… not enough.

In Denmark, we say the darkest trees grow the deepest roots. May Norwich find its forest again.

Until the next whistle.

Johannes Hoff Thorup
