I've said this before but I think their recruitment was good strategy and not a mistake

it chimes with what Farke said about us deciding to spend on the club infrastructure rather than players because if we spent it all on players it would't change the outcome that season anyway.

I think that to establish yourselves in the Prem you need several runs at it - an initial promotion, a few seasons of yo-yo, incrementally improving the squad as you go.

The obvious challenge is that the prem-quality players you've got will bugger off unless they've a good reason not to.

But no Prem team is going to want any of scum's players with the probably exception of Delap. So at least they'll have that squad ready to go and give the chumps a whirl. They won't piss the league by any stretch but no reason they wouldn't be top six. I think they've knowingly recruited champs players, had a free hit in the prem with it, pocketed the money and are ready to go again stronger than they were this time two years ago. Hard to knock that as a strategy though the fans won't like it.

If we go up next term what I'd like us to try instead is getting a prem-quality spine and backfilling the other places with our good champs players. Will that work? No clue. We'd need luck with injuries too, no good having one good one in each of a few positions then they get crocked second game.

The other way is the Forest thing of replace everyone and then just take the FFP points deduction on the chin...
