Thing is, there’s a big difference…
between a transition season where new players or inexperienced players are trying their best with a new style and making errors or just not adapting to it yet and what we currently have, which is a group of players who are not only not up to it but completely unmotivated. If a long-term project is failing so badly, a change of plan has to happen. You can’t stick with something that isn’t working just because you intended to give it time - that kind of stubbornness could see us back in League One soon enough. It takes guts to stick with something that you have faith in even when it’s not achieving results but it also takes guts to admit you were wrong and to start from square one. The first half of the season saw some ‘transition’ style performances - the last three months have been inexcusable. When you’ve lost the dressing room and the fans, there’s not much else that can be done.
