Cycling will suffer, needs free to air coverage
Leaving aside the fact that it has covered TdF for decades, brilliantly, and has been part of cycling's growth in the UK, moving behind a pay channel will massively impact engagement.
Most won't pay a full subscription for the few grand tours.
Personally I've loved the itv TdF and is a July highlight every year. I've been to see a few stages over the tears too.
