I agree and I’m actually ok with it

There is an ambition to go up and stay up. As our six fingered friends are finding and we already knew, the latter part is the real challenge, and it feels like we’re trying to lay the foundations properly for something sustainable when we do next go up.

That does mean this season is a free hit - much like scum are having with their squad of good champs players in the prem. Obviously we or they would be delighted by success. But for both of us it’s much more likely we’ll be playing chumps football next term and we know that and we’re trying to plan sustainably for a proper push later.

It feels different from the seasons where we’ve not appeared to give much of a f**k. It feels like we’re trying to bed something new and better in and I’m up for that.

If we don’t go up next season so be it but if we’ve been flaccid in the attempt then that’s the point at which I will be pissed off. This season is a transition and everyone from JHT down is learning. Next season should be the first part of what we’re transitioning to. Of course it will take more than one season but you know what I mean.

I couldn’t see todays game so what I’m saying isn’t coloured (or informed) by it.
