A very cursory look at Google (we’ll have no fact checkers here, Elon / Mark)

Forbes says: The least wealthy 10% of Britons have $20,200 (£15,400), whereas the richest 1% of households have more than $4.7 million (£3.6 million) in wealth. Indeed, a 2023 Oxfam report shows that this 1% of Britons hold more wealth than 70% of the rest.

On a more global note, Oxfamalam says: The top 1 percent own 43 percent of all global financial assets. Just two corporations control 40 percent of the global seed market. The “big three” US-based asset managers —BlackRock, State Street, and Vanguard— hold $20 trillion in assets, close to one-fifth of all investable assets in the world.

One might posit the argument that the rich / poor disparity is increasing at an unsustainable rate. Many of the few wealthy people I know are also the ones who are often least generous with their money, to put it bluntly and to generalise a bit (and by no means all of them, I know that). Maybe that’s why they’re wealthy, maybe they’ve worked hard, maybe they’re lucky. But I do know there is a flourishing market in schemes to help people avoid paying tax.
