Worked on Sibierskis back in ’68 during the Battle of Khe Sanh

...mostly maintaining the seats and some of the wheels.

Me and Frank ‘Windy’ Gale were seconded to a Yank black ops team tasked with destroying PAVN munitions stores in northwestern Quảng Trị Province.

We got an early shout on the morning of 2nd January after a particularly heavy night getting embalmed on Tanzanian Vervet pips.

Windy had swamped his pit and, as I shook him awake, he had to do the old five finger spread. The Yanks weren't happy but bundled us into our chopper for a rocket raid over Hill 881 South and Co coc Ridge.

As we flew over Lang Vei, we received a sit-rep over the radio that the dinks had been laying down heavy fire over Camp Carroll and were ordered to head back and provide air support. Our bird lurched violently and Windy was so tractored he fell out, right over the side just over Ca Lu.

In 1988, a Czech monkey spotter found him living in a tree in Phnum Prech Wildlife Sanctuary. His legs had fused, one of his arms was missing and a Slow Loris was nibbling his goolies.
