nobody has voiced concerns for the additional mental burden on medical staff
i would think that the cumulative mental burden of offing folks as part of your day job may not sit too well on some shoulders. unless there is an "opt-out" pathway for them.
i can think of reasons for and against. i believe the person has to administer the life ending substance themselves so the medic at least doesn't have to do that. they have to make the call of stating if the case is less than 6 months terminal (is that even do-able?*) and if the poor unfortunate is of sound nogginnecissity.
i dunno, it smacks a bit of a kop out as it's cheaper than providing proper end of life care.
* i'm guessing in some cases it is "do-able" based on historic patient medical data but can there absolutely be 100% certainty and what if a cure for said terminal illness is discovered shortly after the person has been killed by the state?
but, that's what we pay politicians for i guess. i'm putting my trust in them to do a great job as usual.
