Press news in...

Cycled up the Nest, feet are still cold. We await Johannes Hoff Thorup for his pre-match thoughts.
---------------------------------------------------------

JHT on international break: “We’ve analysed the games and looked at where we can improve. It’s about making sure everything we do is following the right track.”

JHT on team news: “It’s better. Barnes is back with the group, and so is Gibbs. Onel has also been back. Fasi is back"

*Marcelino Nunez will not be available for Saturday. JHT expects him to be back in the squad for the Luton game - Angus Gunn is back available*

JHT on Barnes: “I see him for us as a nine, as we need him in the box for us. It’s the first time I’ve seen him training for us, and I can see he can help with the link-up play.”

JHT on January window: “It’s ongoing for us. The important thing is we stick to the strategy and not take any short term decisions. If we do any transfers it will be for the strategy in the long term. Will it be a lot of players - no.”

JHT on Onel Hernandez: “Yes, he is an option (to play striker). It’s good he got minutes for the Cuba international team, if not ideal he played so many minites. I think what he gives us is strength upfront and creating something from nothing.”

JHT on Marcondes: “I didn’t expect that (to play so many minutes). It is the same for Jacob Sorensen, but we had to do it. Oscar Schwartau we agreed when he signed that he would have to adapt to the league, but we’ve had to push him to the limit.”

JHT on Callum Doyle: “With Callum we could see before the end he was struggling and mentally struggling. It’s been tough for all the players, who were all tired.”

JHT on West Brom: “It’s going to be a tough one, as there are no easy games in this league. Defensively they can go man-to-man and create a physical game picture, they are a solid team. We need to be at our best.”

JHT on away support: “I sense they buy into what we are doing here. We are trying to change something for the better and it will need time. 2500 fans at West Brom is fantastic.”

JHT on Slimane: “Luckily he got through the Bristol game. He has had 10-12 days rest and training. For a guy like him, we knew he came with some fitness issues from Sheffield. It would take him for him to be match fit every week.”

JHT on EFL action week: “The reason we have a football club and privileged to work in one is for the community. We should always have those in our mind when we make decisions. My daughter has started playing football in Norwich, so it’s great to see.”
