Bold changes to benefit the country…..

not individuals.
It was started by Thatcher’s every man for himself ideology which was anti the Welfare State and has caused much of the inequality and (child) poverty today,
The rich are getting richer and the poor are becoming a larger proportion of our country.
A wealth tax for the richest is needed and a tightening up of tax loopholes which allow the richest and highest earners to employ clever accountants to avoid paying their fair share of taxes.
Increased poverty and hardship, reduced social housing, has knock on effects eg increased crime and homelessness.
Private landlords using the less well off in society as cash cows, so that families have no long term places they can call home if a landlord decides to sell or look for new tenants to get increased rent affects people’s employment and children’s schooling when they have to keep moving. (Council house right to buy which thatcher pushed- and made some extended families large amounts of money at the tax payers expense.
It should be ‘what can I do for my country not what can my country do for me’ ( misquote from JFK). Yes, I am a pensioner and Yes I lost my winter fuel allowance, it’s my small contribution to my country and is tough for some people but for those higher up the earnings and wealth scale larger sacrifices need to be made- for the good of the country and the least well off in society.
