Ok. Hawthorns and Molineux both about 12 miles away so I know a lot
Does depend where you are coming in from as you can get a lot closer in a car to Birmingham Centre than the Airport, but if you don't know the area then there is a lot of sense in parking at Birmingham International Rail Station / Birmingham Airport. Make sure you park in the Birmingham International Rail Car Park and not an Airport one. There will be plenty of spaces on a Saturday. Will still cost circa £15 but definitely convenient. Then get train to Birmingham New St (should be frequent). Meet your daughter.
Part Two I'd to get to the Hawthorns. It has its own train station which is very convenient but you need to catch it from the other main Rail Station in Birmingham, Snow Hill easy to find. Trains are headed (every 10-15 mins) in the direction of Worcester and Stourbridge. Very convenient, only problem is that the train will be full of Baggies fans both before and after.
It is v close to the Junction 1 of the M5, and if you did decide to drive ask again and I will give directions + where to park in the area, but given you are meeting up in Brum I think your plan is a good one. Just make sure you park at Birmingham International Rail Stn Car Park and not the Airport.
