Well, in many aspects we’re doing okay, especially in a smaller independent units

The background of the story is that Phillip has been doing it for 40 years, his in his mid 60s and he got an offer he couldn’t refuse from JD sports when they were on a huge acquisitions drive. The High Street is changing, it always has been, if you think of what Phyllis unit was before, immediately before it was a high-end furniture shop, but prior to that it was the famous BB Adams. And of course that discount market has been rapidly replaced by pound shops and Internet sales for electrical equipment. Also buy supermarket selling everything.
So I think we’re fortunate in Norwich for having a good spread of different sized units to allow independent shops such as myself to give business ago.
The unit next to me has recently closed, it was a strange desert shop called Belly Boos. Before that it was Pure Bridal and before that it was my blue Jean company.
It will be reopened by the end of the week by the guys from Biddy‘s tearooms, who are expanding from over the road.
