Just back from the game - a foo thoughts
obviously overall very positive and enjoyable.
To start with the negatives, of which there are few. I thought that there were two spells on 10 minutes or so that were not great. The first after their goal when we looked very wobbly. We need to work on defending crosses, too many players going for the same ball and getting in each others way. I also didn’t like the way we sat back and invited them on for ten or fifteen minutes after we went 3-1 up. To be fair, it was really hot and so I’d like to think that was a factor in that. Thankfully JHTs subs got us going again.
I also thought the Watford number 8 was an outstanding player who caused us plenty of problems. I actually thought they were a half decent side going forward.
However we cut them open with ease and created so much. It probably should have been 8-3 or something!
Other thoughts:
Cordoba - excellent. Just what we need although I can see him giving a penalty or two away if we get the wrong ref!
Doyle - running out of superlatives already for him and today for the first time I could see how playing him left back can work in terms of him becoming a deep lying playmaker.
Sainz much better.
Kenny very good.
Fisher great and what a weapon to have to be able to bring Stacey on late against tiring teams.
Sarg needs a goal for his confidence but worked hard.
Hope Angus shakes off that knock as we don’t want Long playing.
Nunez arguably now our most important player.
Great game - very enjoyable! We have a good coach.
