Couple of technical notes

You do need to equalise the volume, run it through a compressor/similar or many other ways to achieve (rough-and-ready just check levels when each of you is talking into your mics before you press record and make sure they're equal).

Plosives are a bit sharp in places especially from your guest, idk what mic you're using but consider a pop shield; you can use a de-esser or just a multiband compressor to take off some of that too.

If you don't have a DAW/equivalent, Audacity is free and you can get freeware compression tools (also maybe bang an EQ on just to take out low frequency noise you'd be surprised how that can build up). So you can get pretty close just with free tools.

This is second- or third-level stuff, the most important thing is the content and I thought it was a great start. Well done x.
