However, the question remains as to whether he is system is more effective than wagners. Thorup’s system puts huge pressure on the full backs, as did Wagner’s system this time last year, and wagner couldn’t get the balance right and ended up going to that negative style we all disliked.

Can Thorup make his system work? Or can he evolve it as necessary if the personnel can’t deliver what is needed?

We’ll find out.

Either way, it was very clear Wagner was not the answer.
