Years ago they would play several counties

Those with 5 test series would play most of the counties and it was a prestige fixture with full first teams playing.

The first match I ever went to, a birthday treat, was Hampshire v Australia at the old County Ground in Southampton. 3 years later my birthday present was my first junior membership, I think it cost 10 shillings.
