But my view would be the ability of your midfield dictates how the rest of the side has to play.

If they’re s**t on the ball, no point trying to get your defenders to play out from the back. Might as well go long.

Equally, if they’re physically weak and can’t protect the defence, build that into the tactics. Maybe that means we need three CBs?

If we had skipp, vrancic and Buendia, would it mean we could live with Duffy and Hanley? I think we probably could.
