I said I suspect he's the one we will do our utmost to sell in order to not have to sell the other valuable players, because I suspect he's never going to really be for again. Someone asked if he's injured.
He last spoke about his ankle troubles to US media on June, said it's been problematic since 2022.
We know that second half of last season he barely trained between matches. We know it got seriously injured in the act of blocking a ball which I suspect is not a great sign.
He also said there's been a balancing act ever since Qatar 2022 whether to push his ankle or rest it. It's clearly not really resolved at this point. No idea of that's why he's been left out but he was visibly really struggling at the end of last season when he was pushing it. He admitted he had no idea how it would be when he came into the US friendlies pre Copa America.
It's no way to be playing football. He's probably our hardest to replace player, but someone we have to replace whether we do it for nothing because we keep him, or whether we sell him and have something to work with.
