But actually, he's just not THAT good, is he? He's 26 and he's not really done anything other than a very brief flash of being good in the EPL, and a few very good performances in the championship in a rolls royce of a team.

Don't get me wrong, he is a good player. He could have a solid career in the championship, but has he actually consistently shown that he could be any better than that? I don't think so.

The advice he needs from people he'd listen to is that he needs to drop the ego, work hard and deliver results on the pitch. Unless he's willing to drop down to league 1, he's unlikely to find a club that will build themselves entirely around him.

Maybe he should become the Peterborough version of Joey Beauchamp, or something? If what he needs in life to be fulfilled is being worshipped as a hero, he needs to move down a few levels.
