The old fashioned way

We'd keep diaries, copy them longhand by candlelight and mail them to our friends, suitably embellished e.g. "For my evening repast I partook of haricot beans simmered in a tomato-based reduction and served over lightly caramelised fermented oven-fired wheat coated first with a light veneer of shaken cow-juice, washed down with a decoction of dried leaves steeped through a permeable membrane directly into the mug".
