Encouraging that Kane was working harder in the defensive press and that we had two going to the ball more. But then that’s what we do until we score so who knows if Southgate has learnt yet.
Still not creating enough with the ball with the starting XI but Slovenia did park the bus
Most encouraging was the introduction of Palmer and Gordon. I really hope this have Southgate enough evidence that he needs to change it up with his starting XI for the knockouts. There were three or four glimpses of really quite decent movement and creation.
I think playing better teams could benefit us as they won’t sit back. We have to remember we are favourites for a reason. And other teams will set themselves up defensively accordingly. As frustrating as it is that will have contributed to our lack of creation alongside Southgate’s defensive approach when 1 up in other matches.
