Fucking hell clem i feel for you x

cup final day was exactly a year since we lost our old boy - to a stroke too - 25th may 2023 - so cup final day last year fell about a week after and i pre-warned my mates that i might get a bit blubby later in the evening; was fine during the game and when on the pints, but as soon as we'd moved on from the match pub to the next one & onto shorts i dropped off an emotional cliff & was blubbing away uncontrollably and had to be taken home early.

thankfully yesterday went without nay episodes, beyond chatting about the previous year's curtailing.

ours came as a pair of rescues, so having the other one still was a massive help.

we're already considering a second as our girl has really come along in her own development.

i know family members & many people will routinely 'overlap' them like that to help - it was a guilty feeling of disloyalty i could never get beyond in the past so am not used to it personally.

but i know from losing our previous girl and the massive gap between her & now caused initially by the heart break and reticence to dive back into that becoming a certainty again, that this way is better.

sorry rambling post, incoherently put together plus doesnt help you as yours was solo but maybe when the times right in a month or so to take a trip to a local rescue/rehoming shelter

f**king horrible what your going through and i know once i read the replies i might end up playing old vids of our boy and having a little cry - actually i did get a quiet cry in last night when playing a tune, dont think my mate even noticed

but hopefully you do know youll come out the other side of it eventually, day by day...stay strong but allow yourself time to grieve, you need to let it out right now...
