One thing I do agree with Wagner on is the lack of squad depth
Knappers first act at the club transfer wise was to go from Idah to Sydney. He knew Sargent had ankle problems and we would need decent backup throughout the rest of the season to keep Sarge fresh for the important games. It was such a downgrade in backup striker.
And Webber before him, the failure to sign a genuine defensive midfielder in the mould of a Skipp has left our already weak central defence even more exposed throughout the season. I just don't view Mclean as a defensive minded midfielder and he was at his best with a Skipp type next to him. Nunez could also do with a ball winner next to him. We are just too easy to play through in the middle of the field especially against any half decent side.
Also the lack of a genuine creative number 10 to keep possession and build attacks has reduced our attacking ability further. The sight of Barnes trudging around the pitch the season in that position is one of the biggest reasons I want Wagner gone. Caveman stuff. His touch and mobility are so poor. He can't get around the pitch anymore or keep possession. Really hope Knapper identifies these areas for improvement.
