Was just looking at Farke's first squad...
If you ignore how many of them ended up being sick notes, aging or arrogant, lazy underachievers, the amount of creative ability contained in that single squad was ridiculous for championship level. Is a fascinating squad in transition.
In one squad we had Hoolahan, Maddison, Pritchard, Jarvis, Murphy, Stiepermann, Naismith and Vrancic, and even had the defensive midfield to cover them in Tettey, Reed, Trybull and Thompson.
Defensively it's not too shabby either with Zimmerman, Lewis, Toffolo and Hanley joining Klose, Pinto and Martin.
Gunny in goal and strike force of Oliveira, Jerome and Carlton Morris.
Obviously we also had Aarons, Cantwell, Murphy 2 and Morris about to emerge from the yoof as well.
Classic example of a squad looking on paper as though it should be getting promoted comfortably and have a good chance of staying up, yet for various reasons much of it needed a clear out. It does show how bold the club was in replacing so many of those players with cheap and free transfers from the lower leagues.
