In 1968, my first full season, the Championship started on 1 May

The last matches started on 7th September. There were usually wo 3 day matches a week and with the arrival of the Sunday League, it was a 7 day week for the players.

Don't get me started on what the administrators have done to the professional game, with the collusion of the counties, my Hampshire as much to blame as the rest.
