I thought very positive, considering how few of those will start when squad is
fully fit.
Only players who would have started a game tonight if it were competitive and a full squad were available would have been Pickford (sigh), Stones, Bellingham, Rice and maybe Foden.
I don't know how many, if any, of the England mainstays are already known to be likely to miss the Euros, but we know that we really need a replacement for Maguire, a box to box midfielder or deep lying playmaker to play alongside Rice, and a back for Kane who actually isn't anonymous on the pitch and gives defenders something to think about.
In that respect I think it was moderately successful. Mainoo and Toney were a massive upgrade on the alternatives.
We've seen (I hope) that Dunk really is not the answer, that Bowen can shake up a defence although not sure I'd take him given the alternatives.
Only thing I think is a shame is that we didn't give another keeper this game.
Was basically an England B side against a Belgian first team and should have won on the balance of play.
