FFP has done for Newcastle hasn’t it?

I guess the plan was to buy Newcastle and then spend 500mn or whatever a season until sheer of weight of money won them the league. But if they can’t grow their revenue enough, then they simply don’t have the spending capacity (even if they have the raw cash) you need to compete with the mega clubs, as FFP caps you. And it’s hard to see how they ever will grow their revenue that much, as there is a limit to how much commercial sponsors will want to tie themselves to what is evidently a sportswashing exercise for a regime that executes dissedents/academics/LGTB etc. All the old tricks of allegedly arms length linked sponsorship deals will be tried, but they’ll never get there.

Which is a shame. Said nobody.
