Well well well, where do we go from here?
Really interesting few weeks for the club this. They stuck with Wagner when most fans (myself included) would have made the decision to sack him. The issue now is that his decisions are magnified and any that don't go right straight away are criticized with a 'see, I told you he should have been sacked' kind of attitude. I don't think the local media have helped with the atmosphere at all. One of the local journalists made a comment along the lines of 'this is the Championship not the dog and duck' regarding the subs on Saturday and it turned out the Wagner was correct regarding a booking. The Reeves boys have also been quite critical of Wagner. I hope they are measured in their response to Wagner's post match comments. In answer to the question where do we go I think there are a few options:
- sack Wagner as he'll never get everyone on board and now many people will take offence about his comments which will have a further negative impact.
- Knapper to do another round of media (maybe with the Reeves boys). He did some media last week and did talk about sticking together but those messages obviously didn't hit home with the fans. Maybe he needs to say that Wagner will be here until the end of the season.
