no at age 55, it gets ramped up to full pension entitlement based on years served/rank
index linked to inflation thereafter
under the old scheme (mine) anyway
i didn't commute a penny so get the full entitlement now. the gamble is to commute and use that cash to invest or not to commute and reap the long term benefits assuming you won't croak early.
