Well, for what it’s worth…

… I thought we did ok. They were the home team, on the best run of form in the division and full of confidence. We have a fan base who honestly believe we’re on the edge of League One and a home atmosphere slightly worse than a morgue. No wonder we play better away (I’ll ignore Plymouth). We’ve had numerous injuries to important players on and off since April. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve not been impressed with some of our football this season, or last. We don’t keep the ball well, our passing often veers between ponderous and appalling and we make calamitous mistakes way more than most teams.

But things are improving. Núñez is getting better, Sara can easily be one of the top three players in this league and confidence is growing. Provided Sargent and (I never thought I’d write this) Hanley return from their injuries without significant permanent damage, we might even have a shout of the playoffs. If Idah learns how to read the game rather than react, if we don’t see Long have to play again, if Stacey learns a bit of defensive composure, if Sainz can stay fit and we can get him the ball more, who knows?

Of course, this may all be a flash in the pan and it may all go to s**t. That’s always the case. But things are never as bad and never as good as you think, as I’m sure someone wrote down there.
