We ought to give the opposition credit sometimes
and often don’t. It was dull, what they did, but they did it well and didn’t make any mistakes, or at least none that we could take advantage of. They defended their box, crowded us out and gambled they could get to our crosses better than we could. Until the last 10-15 minutes they got the first touch in their box virtually every time. Sure, you can blame us for not playing the perfect pass or cross, but they have to take some credit for what they did. If we had done that as well as they did away from home more often this season we would have probably at least 4 more points and a lot more confidence, and we’d be praising our resolute defence. Not to mention that is only the second time this season we’ve failed to score, IIRC. The other time was Leicester.
I’m not saying it was a great display by us, but it’s football and it happens.
