The old day of thousands pay on the gate and you report 12 people turned up are gone. If (as the pinkun seem to think) the low real attendance is season ticket holders preferring not to use their ticket they've already paid for, then that revenue is already in the system anyway, and will be captured and reported through direct debits regardless. So its then a choice of deciding whether to fess up that loads of people who had already paid, and then in some sense had a free ticket to attend, actively preferred NOT to come, even though they're amongst the most committed of all fans.
