This is just the world right?

I think a lot of people are actually pretty nice, live and let live kind of folk. Even when they dont agree with you, it wont be an issue, and they'll kind of see your point, and you'll see their's. But an increasingly vocal minority are angry. Fucking angry. And they want everyone to know it. You're wrong. And that makes you a freak. Disgusting. Something should be done about you. You make me sick. Kind of thing.

A few years ago we'd got to the point where if you held really quite rancid views, and were a bit of a bigot, at least you had the decency to be a bit ashamed about it and keep your nasty views to yourself. Now, with Trump, Farage, Braverman, people like this feel empowered to be very loud about their views. Those people are vermin. They should be shot. They should be in prison. Kind of thing. I think it all started here with Farage and his Turkish invasion poster during Brexit. All those filthy Turks coming over here...shudder. Kind of thing.

As we get more election results like those in the Netherlands and Argentina I increasingly realise that my moderate, cant we find a middle road through views are increasingly in the minority. Sadly, we may not be far from the rise of leaders that start look quite alarmingly....well...fascist in nature. And I dont know where we go from there. I can see it happening here tbh. Labour will win the next election, but I worry that they wont be able to make things better enough to keep people happy, and that the Conservatives will still be a s**t show. I dont think its far fetched for lots of people to look for something new as a protest vote the election after this. Something really quite dark, offering "radical" solutions to our problems.

Or maybe all that is bollocks, and I'm just a bit down at the thought of going back to work tomorrow.
