Which as you note is a nuanced issue.
His answer didn’t refer to transwomen, but rather “a bloke in a dress”.
I don’t think any actual transwomen identify with the description “bloke in a dress”.
As I said above, the sentiment of his answer isn’t a problem in the case of someone that is just a bloke in a dress, but using that as a description of transwomen without acknowledging any nuance or difficulty was the work of a simpleton.
