This whole thing stinks of deception……

“Look at us, we are helping the environment and building the houses you want. That’s worth your votes isn’t it”
It says the health of those two rivers can then improve, great, as a paddler and lover of nature I’m all for that, but it neglects to mention it is only at the expense of another wherever those 3k houses are built (which isn’t mentioned). So the environmental pressure released from 2 rivers is then concentrated on 1 which no doubt is already in a poor state because of the councils bedfellows Anglian Water and their many many years of profiting from neglect.
“Not at the expense of the tax payer” well the money paid to the farmer comes from a JV between the councils (tax payer funded) and AW (not technically a tax but it kind of is because we can’t live without water. In fact it’s worse than tax because we pay for the product, a profit margin and the tax on the profit). Yes, it says the developers buy this ‘environmental credit’ from the JV but it doesn’t say how much they are paying. Hands up who thinks they are not paying enough to cover the full cost of creating this credit 🤚🏽
And of course, these pigs won’t just suddenly disappear, they will be moved where the environmental cost will just continue and add to a problem in their new location. But that will be swept under the carpet until after the election. A-holes
